Monday, 5 March 2012

My husband just got a job at Finland, and he just signed the working contract. The next step to do is to schedule an appointment with Finland Embassy to apply for resident permit. Finland embassy customer service is only can be reach on Monday – Friday from 9.00am to 12.00pm. So, he has to call the embassy in the morning before going to work. He called the embassy to ask about the information how to apply the resident permit. There’s an Indian lady answer the call, and she explain everything. From what we understand, there are a few steps and fees need to be done to apply the resident permit. We schedule the appointment on Thursday (8 march 2012), but have to reschedule to Friday (9 March 2012) because to translate married certificate it needs about 3 working days to be processed. Therefore, tomorrow (Tuesday, 6 March 2012) I will go Institut Terjemahan Negara to do some document translation. Hopefully everything will go smoothly. Here is some information about applying resident permit:

Resident Permit Fees:
1.       Employee = RM1810.00 (For my husband)
2.       Family Ties =RM1585.00 (For me)

Total for both of us, RM3395.00

Document needed are:
1.    Passport photos (must follow Finland passport photo guidelines)
2.    Malaysia Passport (Copy and Original)
3.    Married Certificate (Must be translated)
4.    Working contract (Copy & Original)
5.    Fill in Form OLE_TY1 (Resident permit application for employment)
6.    Fill in Form OLE_PH1(Resident permit application for spouse of a foreigner resident in Finland)

Important: Resident permit can only be applied at Finland Embassy abroad or the local police in Finland. But, it is advisable to apply the resident permit before your departure to Finland. From my experience, when we transit at Melbourne to Finland, the immigration staff asking us what is our purpose to entering Finland and they want to see the resident permit.
