Today, I have to go to Institut Terjemahan Negara to do some document translation. It takes me about 1 hour from Bangsar because of massive traffic jam at Smart Tunnel. I even get lost to get there because the location is a bit remote. There’s only one tall isolated building surround by jungle. The parking lot that was reserve for the building is a bit small and it’s already full. So, i have to parked at public parking and it’s free.

Reserved parking area for Institut Terjemahan Negara.

The building surround by jungle.
I don’t see any big signboard shows that the building is Institut Terjemahan Negara, so i’m a bit confused. I saw a guard at the building, so asked him where should I go to do document translation. He said, just come in at the ground floor with a glass door. From outside the glass door, I look at the inside. The inside looks like a book’s store and there’s a paper at the door shows the opening hours. It doesn’t looks like a place to do a document translation. Again, I’m confused. After I came in, I saw there’s a small counter to do the document translation. You just have to take your number, and wait at the waiting area. While waiting, you can read the sample book. Now, it more looks like a library. There also a place for children to play and read books.

Take your number here.
While waiting, I hear the ladies at the counter talking in the phone with customer. From what I understand, there is a problem with the documentation and the document cannot be done on time. The document can only be done on the evening, and the customer came from the Singapore to get the document and go to the embassy. If only evening it can be done, the embassy will be close. When i heard that, it makes me worried that my document cannot be done on Friday. Then, I made a dicision to translate only the document needed on Friday and other document will do it later.

Choose any books to read while waiting.

She said there’s an extra charges about 30% and she have to ask the translator first. The translator said it can be done tomorrow at 11am in the morning. Later, I asked to translate birth certificate from Bahasa Malaysia to English. This document is not urgent, and it will be processed within 3 working day. It cost me about RM516.00 for 6 pages of document. I have to keep the receipt to be claim later. The process at the counter only takes me about 10 minutes.
