It's summer now, so we have a long summer day to fast about 20 hours a day. This is my first time fasting more than 14 hours a day. In my home country Malaysia usually fasting only take about 14 hours a day. This is a new experience for me to fast during summer. Malaysia will start fasting on Saturday, 21 July 2012. 

At first, i'm so confused whether Finland will be start fasting on Friday or Saturday. Usually in Malaysia, there's an announcement about when to start the fasting on TV, radio and news paper. I try to find the information through the internet, but there is no announcement or anything. 

On 19 July 2012 in the morning, I found a Helsinki Islam Keskus ( Helsinki Islamic Center) on the internet and try to make a call asked about the information. There's a man answering the phone talked in Finnish, and I asked him whether he can talk in english. Then, I asked "When is the ramadan will be start in Finland. It's it Friday or Saturday". He says," We still don't know yet, we will know by this night on 9pm". So, he said I have to call back around 9pm to get the information.

Later that day, around 8pm I get a call from anonymous number. It's a man called and he said he is from Helsinki Islamic Center. He told me that Finland will start fasting tomorrow which is Friday, 20 July 2012. So, that is how I know when the Ramadan will start in Finland.
